Snowmass NORBA Finals

Keith Sanders won the final race in the NORBA National Series at Snowmass (45-49). Dave Musianisi had a great race in a tough field to pull off a third place (35-39) - Dave's first NCS podium. Way to go!!

Snowmass was the NORBA National Championships Series final event. Unlike Sonoma, Snowmass rolled out a real mountain bike course. Epic climbs, lots of technical riding and blazing fast descents. Mother nature added to the mix with steady rain Saturday afternoon and then rain much of the night on Saturday as well. Sunday began with slightly overcast skies that cleared by race time.

The rain created some very tricky climbing as well as descending. The mud was not deep but very slick. What was normally middle ring became small ring. The last descent, which is normally high speed, had many walking. Keith's method of descending was simple. "I couldn't really stop so I gave fair warning when approaching other riders 'give me some room, I'm not in control". A new singletrack addition to the course from previous races was rideable for some and not for others (my bad choice of tires had me walking). The second lap had dried noticeably making the course more of the classic Colorado courses we know.

The Racer X did great. Not once did the bike not handle with ease everything the course threw at it, and this course has it all. The Magura Marta brakes were spot on. I wouldn't have wanted V brakes in those conditions. My only shifter issues were front derailleur due to mud. The SRAM XO rear derailleur never missed a beat.
