Chipotle-Titus travels to Wyoming, 26 July
It may not have the views of the Trans Alps, but Wyoming's got some awesome riding! The Laramie Enduro 111K boasts 70 miles of riding with 8500+ vertical feet of climbing, all at over 7500 feet. Those are big numbers and the Enduro is big, fast riding. The course snakes its way through cedar, sage, the famous rock formations of Vedauwoo, high plains, pine forests...never taking the rider on the same piece of trail twice. The course is interesting and, with lots of rolling hills, the climbing rarely gets overly tedious (single speed next year?). However, to come up with 70 never repeated miles, the course winds all over the place. Lots of flagging wasn't enough....people got lost on this course! Every race can't hand hold its riders. The ability to red-line it while still paying attention to markers is a great skill that every rider should develop. Although they didn't get to visit the podium, Jack Boltz and Kay Levesque rode hard, smiled a lot, and enjoyed the post-ride party in the park complete with live band, plenty of food and beer, and massage therapists! Sign up early for this race since it's limited to 350 riders. For a great getaway, lets stay the weekend next year and ride the new trails over at Curt Gowdy State Park on Sunday... who's in?
