2008 Colorado State CX Championships

CX racers got their last official Colorado CX fix for the state title this past weekend in Boulder at the Arapahoe East Campus. For Chipotle Titus, it was a great day. The course was a difficult one with lots of technical switch backs, some long drag strip straights coupled with some dismounts, barriers, and even sand. It had everything, except one....MUD. Surprisingly, the course dried out from the snows that we had late last week. Lots of fans were on hand to watch the festivities. Chipotle Titus even had their own band on the back side of the course playing the CT Fight Song. I'm guessing you did not know that there was a CT fight song? Well there is now. Here is some video with the band in the background. Way to go Ben Hogan and Austin Sennert. http://vimeo.com/2459417 Thanks to Dave Hixson for the video.

Justin Green and Gary Thacker raced early in the day. Gary rode his way to 3rd place with a very strong race. Mike Hogan and Jamie Kilcoyne raced the 35+ at noon under 60 degree temperatures in December. Mike ended up 7th, Jamie was a little further back and had a rough ride finishing 22nd. Turns out that Jamie just returned from Germany late Friday night and had not digested all of the sausage and cheese yet. However, Jamie will be ready for Kansas City next week. Seriously, Mud and Cowbells tells the story much better than I can.. Complete results can be found here http://www.americancycling.org/Results/2008ResultsCross.aspx?RacePK=233

Finally Karen Hogan had the race of the day. She rode the Women's Open race finishing 3rd. She ran out of course and looked like she was going to overtake 2nd in the final straight.

Karen on the Women's Podium. Congrats to all. In the state series for Best Cross Rider (BCR) Gary Thacker finished 2nd in 45+, Mike Hogan finished 3rd in 35+, and Karen Hogan also finished 3rd in Womens Open.
