It’s hard to believe that the race series is over. It seems like just yesterday I was lining up for the hill climb and wondering to myself how is it possible to put yourself through so much pain in such a short amount of time.
We did great as a team. Overall out of 35 teams we were 2nd. Just 54 points out of 1st. Congratulations to everyone!
Yesterdays King of the Rockies Tipperary Race Course was fantastic. Everyone had great results and races this year. A glimpse of the results shows that constant improvement from beginning of the season to the end.
A quick review of the team:
Sheri Boltz Pro Women 2nd overall. A fantastic race series!!!
Coreen Wright Pro Women 4th overall!
Considering that Sheri and Coreen were racing in a very tough field, work full time, have a few years on most of the girls and still rocked it! A look at the field of who raced in the pro women, Erin Huck, Melissa Thomas, Amy Dombroski, some pretty fast gals!
Scott Pavlakovic- 4th place overall Expert Men 35-39 and just off the podium by 3 points. This was a very tough field.
Rus Kappius Single Speed Open- 2nd overall and putting down times that would be solid finishes in the pro field on a single speed. Of course being a genetic freak who trains really hard doesn’t hurt. Rus had one race all year where he cracked and finished 5th. Otherwise he was first or 2nd at each race. Yesterday’s race was a sprint finish with Jesse Swift who won the series. I’m trying to imagine a sprint finish on single speed…… buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Dave Wright 3rd overall in the Expert 45-49. Dave never ceases to amaze me. This season he was constantly fighting injuries and still had solid results at each event. Battling an upper leg infection, then gout and most recently some cracked ribs (raced the last two races with them) he still puts down some very fast times!
Kay Levesque Expert 40-49- fast and always smiling!!! 6th overall for the series with a 7th place finish yesterday while racing the geared girls on her single speed. Woo Hoo!!
Jack Boltz Expert 50+ - Jack and a good year and placed 12th overall out of 35! Great improvement this year for Jack. Overcoming cramping issues from last season and steadily improving in speed. Racing in a very tough field, that includes myself, Gary Thacker, Wade Wilderman, Russell Asleson, Mark Gouge and many other fast guys. A bit of fine tuning will see Jack on the podium many times next year.
I feel fortunate to have won the series. After a very slow start on the hill climb where it seemed like I was stuck in reverse, I had some consistent rides and was able to finish 2nd yesterday behind Wade Wilderman and in front of Gary Thacker. There were a lot of fast guys this year. I hope everyone eats a lot of donuts and sits on the couch this winter. This class just keeps growing with faster guys coming in each season.
Everyone should be very proud of their season! A huge thanks to all!
