Curt Gowdy State Park
Laramie, Wyoming
Kappius Components racers Clay Harris and Ward Baker lined up at the 4th annual Gowdy Grinder last weekend. Curt Gowdy state park is a great destination in itself, but add in technical 18mile mountain bike race that is 99.9% singletrack and you end up with one of the best mountain bikes races in our area. The Gowdy Grinder is put on by the good folks of the Laramie Mountain Bike Series. Nat Dyck and the LMBS folks have perfected the recipe for a great race and every one of the 200 riders left with a smile.
Open men raced the long course, 1 short lap and 2 long laps. Clay suffered a chain ring mechanical that left him trailside on lap 1, but after fixing it he fought back to finish a respectable 25th out of 55 starters. Ward ended up a solid 6th place.
