No Boys at the Butte!

Mountain States Cup #3, Wildflower Rush -- Crested Butte

The 3rd race in the 2007 Mountain States Cup featured stunning views, oodles of famous Crested Butte singletrack, and incredible ocean-blue skies. The course was no exception to the others in the series: racers began with a tough 1800-foot climb that wound its way up the ski hill before bombing back down again. Chipotle-Titus fielded 4 lady racers and 4 lady racers found themselves on the podium.

Wesley Geer took 4th in the Junior Sport Women category, surpassing her own course expectations by a solid 5 minutes. She was only 2 seconds off 3rd. She described the 1800 ft climb as "a little climbing & lots of fun in the trees. " With a goal of improving her mountain riding skills, Toni Geer did more than that. She won the Sport Women 40+ category.  With 15 minutes on the next rider, Jane Finsterwald blew away her competition in the Expert Women 40+ category. Also in Expert Women 40+, Kay Levesque was holding 2nd place until a flat tire interrupted her day (can you say "UST") . She ended up with a 4th place finish, another podium spot for Chipotle-Titus.

The ladies weekend at the Butte can be summed up by the comment of a competitor: "Chipotle-Titus sure has a lot of fast riders!" Indeed.

4 starts, 4 podium spots (2 first places)
