Saturday the Chipotle-Titus Mountain Bike Team headed to Vail for the Teva Mountain Games. Mike Hogan & Heidi Godsil ripped up the entire fields - not winning any age groups - but winning the overall expert men's & women's divisions & bringing home some fat paychecks.
All the experts started together making for a huge field. One minute to go & the sky cut loose with hail followed by a steady rain. It actually dried up a bit but the previously pristine single track course became slick & muddy. This was a fantastic & hard course! There were long hard climbs with room to pass, S turn single track descents & single track rooted climbs. 1500 feet of climbing per 6 mile lap with 3 laps total.
Keith Sanders came in 23rd (remember, this is overall - no age breaks here), Mike Chilcoat in his debut race this season was 43rd & Drew Geer was 52nd.
Toni Geer hauled the Kelty Duo pack out for feeds & we are re-naming it "The Feedzone" - It hauls at least a dozen bottles, feed, rain jackets & umbrellas & is the perfect tool for the job. Wesley Geer was shooting photos for the team. Great support crew!
5 starts & 2 wins!
