The short track season ended Wednesday with the toughest course & the largest fields for the Boulder Racing Short Track Series. The course was designed to spread the field out & make the final results easier to tabulate. It was full of steep up-hills & 180 degree turns. Two of the hills were too steep for the juniors to even walk up - many required assistance to haul their bikes up.
Jack Dooley raced his first ever bike race & finished the tough course. MacCauley Smith continued her fine racing for Chipotle in the junior women field. She ended up 3rd overall for the series.
Chipotle-Titus dominated the Women's B field. This was the largest field of the year. Position was critical as the steep climbs jammed the field. Raili started off near the front & quickly moved into the lead, not to be ever challenged. Her win placed her in 4th for the series. Toni Geer finished 4th & won the overall Women's B. Wesley had her strongest race of the year with a 6th place & secured 3rd overall in the series. The Chipotle-Titus women took 3 of the top 4 spots for the season! Looks like Toni & Raili need to upgrade to the "A" field next season.
The Men's B race had it's usual series of crashes & jam ups. Thomas Dooley, tuning his form for Leadville, finished 5th. Drew Geer sucked Dooley's wheel for half the race before being out-ridden on the technical sections. He picked up 13th. Justin Green was 18th & finished 10th for the overall series in this extremely tough field.
