Arizona Cross update from Foye Troute:
I did the second and third races of the Az cross series this weekend. Saturdays race(s) went pretty good. I did the B race. It was a heated battle in the front group with 2nd though 5th place trading places for the first half of the race (1st place was gone from the start). Eventually I was able to break free of the group after multiple attacks and only the third place guy was able to stay on me. It was a battle to the end and the 3rd place guy was able out sprint me on the long grass straightaway and pimped me at the line and I ended up in 3rd. At least I have the satisfaction of watching him blow chunks immediately after finishing. Being a gluten for pain, I tried my hand in the A race on Saturday as well but ended up getting schooled. Sunday I ‘just’ did the B race. I put in a hard attack from the gun and was off the front until I bobbled in the sand pit. That mistake put me back in 5th for a couple of laps. After a couple more hard attacks I was able to work back up to 2nd. 1st place broke from the group before I was able to get back to the front. One more hard attack and I was able to break away from everyone else. I finished in 2nd place, about 20 seconds off of 1st but over a minute up on third. This weekend’s efforts should put me close, if not in, 1st overall for the B’s in the series. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I’m the only one racing on a single speed!
Cheers, Foye
