KC CX Nationals Bob Bieterman finishes 2nd

The highlight of Saturday's races was the "Eternal Warrior", Bob Bieterman. Bob finished 2nd in the Men's 55-59 Category in a race where only 8 riders of 32 starters did not get lapped. Bob did not start in the front of the race in white out conditions with blowing snow and very limited visibility. The course was hard, icy and very rutted in most places. The race organizers decided to put in two lake crossings courtesy of the bike wash. This ended up creating two mud/water pits about 10 yards long. With the temperatures in the low 20's, this created a coating of ice on everything, it even made some bikes into a singlespeed. Congratulations Bob on the top Chiptole Titus finish at the Nationals.

In the race prior to Bob's, Mike Hogan finished 18th in a field of 100 riders in the Men's 40-44 category. Mike avoided a large pile up at the first turn sending him from a 9th row starting position to the top 30. He also used Karen's wheels at 25 psi to attempt to roll over the rock hard ruts. Thankfully, there were no broken bones.

Prior to Mike, Jamie Kilcoyne finished 33rd in the largest field of the whole competition, the Men's 35-39 category. This race was won by Boulder Cycle Sport's, Brandon Dwight. Jamie started in the 6th row and rode from the back picking off riders the whole race. Again, Jamie crushed a ton of riders that might normally beat him. But on this day, Jamie kept his bike up right, avoided mistakes and rolled passed riders on the ground. Fantastic ride!

Today are the Men's and Women's Elite races. The forecast is for sun, but bitter cold conditions and a drive back to Colorado.
