CT Team members split their time this weekend between the dirt and the road. Jason Poole was the lone racer in the Teva Mountain Games. They changed the course this year and were not able to use as much single track due to snow. Ryan Trebon won the men's pro field by a huge margin over Jungle Jay Henry. The Expert field looked like the pro field especially when there is money on the line. Jason ended up 32nd.
On Sunday, many of the team members were in Boulder for the Mike Horgan Hill Climb. This year's event went from Boulder up Sugarloaf to Nederland. The Men's 35+ plus field was represented by Thomas Dooley, Mike Hogan and Jamie Kilcoyne. It was cold and windy at the start with a huge headwind up the canyon. Thomas Dooley attacked immediately and shattered the group early. Hogan and Kilcoyne controlled the chase for a long time as Dooley was out of sight. Once on Sugarloaf, the climbers took over and the chase was on. Dooley connected back to the group. It was a long steep trudge up the canyon over pavement and dirt with a weird finish at a school. In the end, Hogan ended up 3rd, Dooley 14th and Kilcoyne was 23rd. Justin Green was 25th in the men's 45+ group.
On the women's side, Jane Finsterwald and Karen Hogan held their own with their own groups and finished very well with a strong women's pro field that included Jeannie Longo. Jeannie is the perennial French Champion that has won more races I can count. Jane ended up 1st and Karen was 2nd. Boulder climbing sensation Diana Tanner was 3rd to round out the podium for the 35+ gals.
