They do Cross in Tennessee!

Just wanted to give you another quick race update. I did my first cyclocross race of the season, Beat the Freak Cyclocross race in Fayetteville, Tn. The turnout was pretty small as the race was in the middle of nowhere Tennessee but those that showed up were pretty strong. I raced the single speed catagory and the 35+ catagory, both races were on my single speed. I ended up taking second in the single speed class. The 35+ race didn't go quite as well but i still feel pretty good about how I did. Since I was on a single speed I wanted to race to break up early and hope that I would be strong enough to be in the front group. I threw down a very hard pace at the start and lead the race for the first 15 minutes as the group slowly broke apart. My efforts worked as I ended up was in the lead group of the top 4 guys. Unfortunately I took one of the corners to fast/hard and ended up rolling the bead of my front tire off the rim about half way through the race so that w! as all she wrote for me. I rolled back to the start where the official told me just to finish it out she would still score me. I had to drop my tire pressure to about 15psi to get the bead back on the rim and had to finish it out like that. Somehow I still managed to finish 8th. I wanted the podium but that's racing, guess i'll have to wait till next time.
