Karen Hogan - USA National Champion - short track Karen Hogan won the US National short track title the day after her ride to 2nd in the XC nationals! This is her 5th national championship title & the 2nd this season after her marathon win 2 weeks ago. Michelle Bliss was our only other Chipotle Titus racer in the open women's race finishing 13th.
The course was questionably designed for a short track. It ran straight up from the ski area base with a 2 minute 15% grade climb, off a jump & then "S" turn back down the mountain. There were no women's divisions except open & pro. All the category 1 women raced together. Karen took the lead right out of the start & held it the whole way for the 6 lap, 25 min race. Her main challenge came late in the race from the 16 year old national XC champion, Alicia Pastore.
