"The Baily Hundo"
Friends!
Thank you so much for supporting me and the great causes of the Bailey
Hundo. What a great experience I had! Very special to be part of a
first ever event and to have raised cash for Trips for Kids and the
Colorado mountain bike race league that high schoolers will hopefully
enjoy being a part of. Wish I had had mountain biking to compete in as
a teen! All told, I raised $675 in less than a month.
And it was thanks to you all that I even finished the race. One
hundred miles on a mountain bike is one long day. We had over 10,000
ft of climbing to do, a lot of it during the hottest part of the day
through the shadeless old Hayman fire burn area. I felt subpar race
day, having been struggling with an ear infection and dealing with the
toll antibiotics can take on one's body. I didn't think I'd get
through the ride but I did, mostly because I didn't want to report
back to you that I couldn't finish. So thank you! I took 2nd in my age
group (30-45) and needed 12 hours to finish the day. Many others
behind me weren't able to get through the course so even finishing is
a great accomplishment. One of the four state senators sponsoring the
race finished the entire course. Way to go!
The race organizers assured me that they would be mailing out receipts
to all the donors. If you do not receive one within the next several
weeks and you need one, please let me know and I'll be sure to track
that down for you.
BTW, I have never seen so many blooming columbines - what a gift that
was to see such beauty all day long!
thank you again!
Kay
