Two 2nd place finishes for Justin’s/Titus at the Breckenridge 100 !!
In the 6th annual Breckenridge 100 the team of Oberg-Green-Hoobler secured 2nd place. It was a gorgeous day for high alpine riding with more than 400 racers showing up to test their mettle against a rigorous course with loads of elevation gain and technical descending. Oberg managed to stay upright despite 2 years off the bike. The descent from the Wheeler saddle on Loop 1 between Peaks 8 and 9 was like a Vancouver luge run. Racers were getting shoved over the edges of the deeply rutted, loose trail creating high altitude mayhem and carnage-o-plenty. Green launched himself up the climb on Loop 2, passing a competitor to firmly secure 2nd place. Hoobler, peddling a demo bike on Loop 3, with antics including an endo in a water hole, dumping ice in his shorts to beat the heat, and downing 3 bottles of water at one aid station, easily held on to the 2nd place slot.
In the solo race Stacey Moeller powered through the strenuous 68 mile, two-loop grind to nab a solid 2nd! Despite fighting a cold she proved her substantial fitness and bike handling skill was more than enough to battle the trail, her under-the-weather state, and her opponent’s challenges. Nice going Stacey !!
Adam Gorove, after volunteering for race set-up on Friday, provided substantial support with a primo spot on the lawn with his RV at the start/finish; Great food, fabulous accommodations, and diligent wrenching. Doesn’t get any better than that! Thanks Adam!
Two more podium places!
