Laramie Enduro

Three riders from Justin's / Titus continued the endurance circuit this weekend in Laramie Wyoming. The Laramie Enduro, a 70 mile marathon, is rapidly becoming one of the best endurance mountain bike events in the west. It's popularity unfortunately has led to sell out registration as well.

Ward Baker finished 6th in the 40+ category. He had a fantastic start, riding in the lead group but perhaps went out too fast & faded a bit in the end. This course lulls you in with fast "easier" miles on the front end with the tough riding stacked in the last 20 miles. Gary Thacker was 5th in the 50+ group & Kelly McGrew was 6th. Kelly decided to soften the blow from a crash with his face 1/2 way through the event, but was one tough "nut" & finished.

This is a great race to put on your 2011 calendar. It is tough. It has every kind of riding - easy dirt roads, wide open fields, single track winding through aspen & pine forests, steep hike a bike & wading through ponds & bogs.
