Colorado is a special place. I am constantly amazed at the cycling opportunities that we have within a reasonable proximity. This weekend marked the second official weekend of cyclocross races. The schedule is booked through mid January this year with at least two races each weekend. The vast majority of these events are within a 45minute drive from Boulder. Lucky.
The Justin's-Titus team was alive and well at this weekend's Green Mountain Velo Cross race in Golden. Corky sets up a mean course that is a little on the rough side, but is a lot of fun to race. Ben Hogan led the Juniors with a 4th place finish in a strong 13-15 field. Mike Hogan rode to 6th place in the 35+ field. Karen Hogan finished 3rd in the Women's Open race. The last Justin's crew to hit the course was the 45+ men's field. Thomas Dooley, Justin Green and Mike Hogan raced in this one. Hogan ended up 5th and Dooley 7th with Justin Green in 24th. For complete results click here. We all got consistent comments on the Justin's kits. Go Nuts, Go Justin's, etc., etc. There is nothing like riding around on your bike with big nuts on your chest!
I am amazed at the size of fields in this race. If it is any indication, you need to get some points for a call up or get to races a little earlier than last year if you want a chance at a hole shot. There are a LOT of cross racers around this year. This is in part due to Cyclocross Super Evangelist, Greg Keller from http://www.mudandcowbells.com/
Also, for those that are interested, the Bowl of Death crew is meeting on Wednesday mornings for some cross hot laps. We generally have from 6-15 riders that do some hot laps at the BOD. Feel free to join in. Mark your calendar for the Bowl of Death Intergalactic Cyclocross Championships on October 24th put on by http://www.boulderracing.com/ . Go Justin's!
